Usually we're discouraged to distort typography or modify letters. But when you dedicate a project to the genre of funk from the '70s, it's a must. In the ’60s and ’70s music industry had a wave of using a really funny and funky typography.
I really dig myself into the history and origins of funk. Comprehended the basis how it builds up, made a diagram showing relations of different kinds of African American music genres, went through the elements and topics and gathered milestone bands to showcase this great style. Being a typographical playground, for the project title this song from Tower of Power seemed obvious.
Inspiration was so easy to find for this project, collecting album covers and posters full of crazyness and vivid colors. I think I can really call this my first baby project. Really the spice of my life.
