The Kerényi book

// Rethink, rebuild, reshape, repack, reuse. //

Redesign of an existing Hungarian book series – cover design for three books and total concept and layout for one. I worked on a small series dedicated to architects.

My choice for this project helped me a lot, for this book on József Kerényi published in the ’90s had a great deal to improve. My aim was to create a clear and elegant layout, with structured content and light look.

The major problem I noticed is that there is no decent structure and order in the content. I specified distinct categories of text, chose fonts and variations for them, defined grid, styles and hierarchy and everything to my best.

Fonts used: Minion and Myriad – might seem a dummy's choice, but they had all the features I needed. Page proportion is wide to fit all different text columns and different shaped images. The cover design is simple and straightforward. Matt grey paper with big type printed in white and simplified vector graphics.
